Governance

The ANZNN is located in the National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit (NPESU), at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH) within the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney.

ANZNN Constitution

The Australian and New Zealand Network (ANZNN) is a company limited by guarantee. The ANZNN Constitution outlines the principles according to which the ANZNN is governed and its compliance under the Corporations Act. The Constitution was adopted on 29 September 2025 and can be downloaded here:

Membership

The ANZNN has three classes of members, as follows:

  • Council Members
  • Institutional Members - Neonatal Clinicians nominated by each hospital containing a Contributing Neonatal Unit, provided no such hospital can nominate more than two Institutional Members at any one time
  • Non-Institutional Members - persons who are any one or more of the following: (i) a Neonatal Clinician; (ii) a chair in perinatal or neonatal medicine; (iii) a person in disciplines associated with perinatal or neonatal care (including but not limited to allied health professionals, pharmacists, developmental psychologists and midwives); (iv) a data manager associated with an Institutional Member; (v) a person with lived experience associated with an Institutional Member; (vi) an Indigenous health worker, elder or knowledge holder; (vii) an immediate past Board Director, unless that person is a current Council Member or Representative of an Institutional Member; and (viii) another person or class or group or persons that is or are approved by Special Resolution of the Company from time to time

A person may apply to become a Member of the ANZNN by giving notice in writing to the Secretary stating that person wishes to become a Member and the class of Membership being applied for. Members of each class are approved by the Board. A person can hold more than one class of Membership at the same time.

Voting Members are the Council Members and Institutional Members.
